Sam Altman has reacted to Elon Musk's comments, who warned that the OpenAI-Microsoft partnership could hurt Microsoft. Musk suggested that OpenAI would "eat Microsoft alive", but Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella took a conciliatory approach. The rivalry between Altman and Musk dates back to 2015, when they co-founded OpenAI, and tensions escalated after Altman turned OpenAI into a profitable Microsoft-backed company. Musk tried to take control of OpenAI, but his bid was rejected by Altman.
