According to a classified document consulted by Reuters, Russia has sent a military delegation to China for training related to the war in Ukraine, which has alarmed European officials.
The document mentions a decree by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov from August 2025, which authorizes the participation of Russian armed forces in exercises in China, including training in radiological, chemical, and biological protection. Beijing has denied the allegations, stating that it is neutral in the Ukraine conflict.
However, information suggests that approximately 200 Russian soldiers were trained in November 2022, some of whom later joined the fight in Ukraine. The European Union is now assessing the implications of this cooperation, considering trade relations with China, while emphasizing the need to treat Beijing as a significant military actor.
