Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that Russia will address the issue of NATO expansion through military or political means, considering that without resolving this issue, the conflict in Ukraine cannot be resolved.
Zakharova accused Ukraine of violating the Budapest Memorandum of 1994 by abandoning its neutral status, which she believes contributed to the conflict. She also emphasized that NATO's expansion to Russia's borders is a main cause of the conflict and that Russia will not abandon its conditions for peace.
Zakharova reminded that Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear arsenal, becoming a non-nuclear state, and accused Kiev of tolerating extreme nationalism. She also mentioned that the loss of Ukraine's territorial integrity is the result of complex internal processes, unrelated to Russia. Zakharova stated that Russia will continue to pursue its objectives in Ukraine, confirming that the war will continue, despite calls for peace negotiations.
