Amid growing tensions between Russia and NATO, Moscow has issued warnings related to Kaliningrad, presenting the idea of a possible isolation of the exclave as a scenario that could trigger a severe military response. The Kremlin confirmed that it had conveyed warnings to the Alliance, including ones with a nuclear component, while Russian officials spoke of using “all weapons” in the event of a direct attack on the territory.
On the other side, NATO rejected the accusations and reiterated that it is a defensive alliance, and that its assessment of the threat had not changed. Secretary General Mark Rutte said that there was no imminent threat, while Russia maintained that the Alliance’s measures could increase the risk of a direct conflict.
In parallel, the Kremlin ordered measures to ensure the security of Kaliningrad, while Russian officials warned that any aggressive action by NATO would receive an immediate response. In this context, NATO exercises in the Baltic region were also cited, considered by Moscow to be simulations that could target control of the exclave.
