The leadership of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has approved important changes in the recommendations for reproductive medical control, regarding the assessment of the reproductive health of women aged between 18 and 49, and guiding them to psychologists if they choose not to have children. The anamnesis questionnaire includes questions about the desire to have children, and the response '0' will lead to the recommendation of a psychological consultation to promote a positive attitude towards childbirth.
In 2024, the medical control program revealed reproductive disorders in 12.9% of women. Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova announced a decrease in abortions, and the Ministry of Health proposes that women considering abortion be counseled by clinical psychologists. There was also discussion about removing abortions for social reasons from the list of services covered by health insurance.
