In recent months, Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, coinciding with a cold wave that has increased energy demand. President Zelensky informed that repair works are underway in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, affected by Russian bombings, and in Zaporizhzhia, Russian forces have used FPV drones to attack transformers. Zelensky emphasized that each region has the necessary resources to repair the infrastructure and called for a mobilization of diplomatic efforts. He also mentioned that hopes for Ukraine to receive Tomahawk missiles from the U.S. have been diminished after a phone call from Putin to the White House. Zelensky stated that Russia's tactics not only kill people but also terrorize civilians by using the cold as a weapon, stressing that maintaining pressure on Moscow is essential to advance towards peace. Border regions, such as Chernihiv, are among the most affected by the ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure.
