A study conducted by researchers from the University of Southern California and published in GeroScience shows that brain aging is not uniform, but varies from one region to another, being influenced by numerous genetic factors.

The analysis of over 41,000 MRI scans from the UK Biobank highlighted more than 1,200 genetic associations that explain why certain areas are more vulnerable to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. The research, conducted with the help of artificial intelligence, provides a detailed perspective on how the brain ages and could contribute, in the future, to identifying individuals at increased risk of cognitive decline.
