The British regulatory authority for medicines announced on Friday the record seizure of weight loss drugs, confiscating 2,000 injectable pens labeled as containing tirzepatide and retatrutide, which are not approved in the UK. This action led to the dismantling of an illegal factory in central England, the first of its kind discovered in the country. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) emphasized that tens of thousands of empty pens and raw chemicals were also seized.
The British Health Minister, Wes Streeting, stated that this seizure represents a victory against criminals who endanger people's lives by selling dangerous and illegal injections for weight loss, highlighting the risks associated with unregulated products.
