Putin, who has ordered the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, is ignoring Trump's threats of sanctions and is planning to expand territorial claims. Kremlin sources say Putin will not accept external pressure to end the conflict and believes the Russian economy is robust enough to cope with the new difficulties. Although Trump has announced arms deliveries to Ukraine and threatened sanctions, Putin remains firm on his terms for peace, including guarantees on NATO and recognition of Russian territorial gains. The war continues, with Russia advancing on the front lines and Ukraine maintaining active resistance.
