The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, had a phone conversation on Tuesday with his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, marking the second conversation in five days. The Kremlin reported that Putin reiterated the need for a rapid de-escalation of the conflict in Iran and its resolution through political means. Pezeshkian thanked Russia for the humanitarian support provided.
The Kremlin also avoided commenting on allegations that Russia is providing sensitive information to Iran to help it defend against attacks from the US and Israel. In a previous conversation with American President Donald Trump, Putin presented proposals for a quick resolution to the Iranian conflict. This discussion was described as "frank" and "constructive." Putin expressed his support for Iran following the appointment of the new ayatollah, Mojtaba Khamenei.
