The organization for the defense of human rights HRANA reported that the wave of protests in Iran has caused 3,090 deaths, of which 2,885 were protesters. Although the repression has led to a decrease in protests, the official media announced new arrests. Residents of Tehran have noticed a calming of the situation in recent days, without signs of protest, but with drones flying over the city.
The protests began on December 28, in reaction to rampant inflation and economic sanctions, becoming one of the most significant movements against the Islamic regime since the revolution of 1979. The White House has warned Iran about the serious consequences if it continues to kill protesters.
