On Saturday, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Piazza XXV Aprile in Milan to protest against the deployment of ICE agents during the Winter Olympic Games. The protest was organized by members of the Democratic Party, the CGIL trade union confederation, and ANPI organizations, aiming to contest the presence of agents in the control room, as well as what many consider to be a fascist trend in the United States. Participants carried banners with messages such as "No thanks" and "Never again for anyone," and some compared ICE agents to the Gestapo. The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, stated that the agents are not welcome, and Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi will be called to Parliament to explain their presence. Although the ICE agents sent to the Olympics are not from the unit that deals with immigrants, protesters emphasized that they do not want the presence of any ICE agent in Italy, viewing them as a threat to the country's pacifist values.
