The moderate socialist Antonio Jose Seguro has emerged in the lead in the first round of the presidential elections in Portugal on Sunday, followed by the far-right leader Andre Ventura, with exit polls and initial partial results indicating that the two will face each other in the second round next month.

The decisive vote is scheduled for February 8.
