The Vatican will publish on Monday the first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, titled "Magnifica Humanitas", which addresses the protection of human dignity in the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Pope will personally participate in the presentation of the document, a precedent-setting event, alongside experts in the field. Since his election, the Pope has emphasized the dangers of AI, particularly its military use and the ecological impact of rare metal extraction.

According to the UN, the value of AI could increase significantly in the coming years, raising regulatory issues. The encyclical has the potential to influence social and moral debates, similar to Pope Francis's encyclical "Laudato Si". The document emphasizes the need for digital literacy and transparency in the use of algorithms, warning against the risks of delegating critical decisions to machines. This is a call for responsibility in the use of technology, considering its impact on society.
