The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Sunday the suspension of two police officers after a viral video showed them fleeing from the area of the armed attack in Kyiv, which took place on Saturday and resulted in the death of six people. Yevhen Zhukov, the head of patrol police in Ukraine, announced his resignation amid the controversy surrounding the police's response.
The attack was carried out by a man born in Moscow, who was killed by special forces. Minister Igor Klymenko condemned the behavior of the police officers, calling it "shameful," and announced an investigation. He also emphasized that the mental state of the attacker was unstable and promised thorough checks for gun owners, considering that the attack was carried out with a legally registered weapon.
Authorities continue to investigate the motives of the attack, classifying it as a "terrorist act."
