Platform X, owned by Elon Musk, has met the deadline set by the European Commission for the payment of a fine of 120 million euros, established in December, under the digital services legislation. The company is contesting the decision at the Court of Justice of the European Union and has proposed changes to address issues related to the blue checkmark for verified accounts.
The spokesperson for the European Commission, Thomas Regnier, confirmed that the requirements have been met, noting that the platform chose to provide a financial guarantee for the contested fine. The Commission found that X violated EU legislation, particularly regarding transparency. The company has until April 28 to present remedial measures for other charges, and the Commission will review the proposals, potentially imposing additional sanctions if they are not sufficient.
