At a press conference, Pete Hegseth stated that the armed forces of the United States deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, arguing that they guarantee security not only for America but also for other nations. Hegseth responded to a question about renaming the Department of Defense to the Department of War, emphasizing that this change reflects a proactive approach by the Trump administration aimed at achieving peace through strength. He asserted that the mission of the armed forces is to exercise "maximum violence" against adversaries, noting that they follow the president's orders and act in accordance with the Constitution. Hegseth also commented on the criticisms from Democrats regarding President Trump's war powers, who has been accused of initiating a conflict with Iran without Congressional approval. President Trump has expressed a desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, challenging the decisions of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
