The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is visiting Madrid, that Spain will remain a faithful ally of Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression. The statement was made during a joint press conference, in which Sanchez emphasized Spain's commitment to continue military support for Ukraine, including through the signing of four cooperation agreements in the field of defense.
These agreements aim to improve Ukraine's air defense systems, a priority for protecting the population. Spain will provide 1 billion euros in aid by 2026 to support the Ukrainian army. Despite the intensification of the conflict, negotiations for a peace solution have been postponed, and Russian forces have launched an offensive in the Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions, without achieving significant gains. Zelensky emphasized the importance of European support, especially in the context of the blocking of 90 billion euros in funds by Hungary.
