The parliamentary elections in Bulgaria began with significant difficulties, with dozens of people involved in organizing the vote not showing up at the polling stations, and the electronic equipment failing. In the town of Ruse, voter turnout was extremely low, with only 80 out of 700 voters casting their ballots in the early hours of the morning. Nationally, participation was below 5% at 9:00 AM. Problems were also reported in Haskovo and Kardzhali, where the absence of polling station members led to their delayed opening.

Pre-election polls indicated the Progressive Bulgaria party, led by Rumen Radev, as the favorite, although the leader is perceived as close to Moscow and compared to Viktor Orban. These elections are taking place in the context of prolonged political instability, with Bulgaria having held eight rounds of elections in the last five years, and the government resigned last year following protests against corruption. The polls will close at 8:00 PM, and observers estimate an increase in turnout throughout the day.
