Pakistan declared a ceasefire on Wednesday in the conflict with Afghanistan, effective from Thursday until midnight on Monday, to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar mentioned that this decision was made at the request of several Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, emphasizing Pakistan's respect for Islamic norms. However, he warned that military operations would be resumed with increased intensity in the event of a cross-border attack or a terrorist incident.

This decision comes after a devastating attack on a hospital in Kabul, resulting in hundreds of casualties, and in the context of Pakistan's accusations that Afghan Taliban harbor fighters from the Pakistani Taliban (TTP). The escalation of the conflict began on February 22, when Pakistan attacked alleged insurgent bases in Afghanistan, accusing Kabul of inaction against armed groups operating on its territory.
