Peter Sullivan, a 68-year-old man, was found not guilty after 38 years in prison for the 1987 murder of florist Diane Sindall. The appeals court overturned his conviction as a major miscarriage of justice. New DNA tests showed the evidence did not match Sullivan but came from an "unknown male". The judges ruled that, given this evidence, the conviction could not be considered certain. Sullivan emotionally watched the court's decision as Merseyside police continue their search to identify the real perpetrator.
