More than 6,000 people have been evacuated from the center of Aachen, Germany, after the discovery of an aerial bomb weighing approximately 250 kilograms on a construction site. The bomb, of American manufacture, was found during construction work, and authorities have not confirmed whether it dates back to World War II, although Aachen was heavily bombed in 1944. A security perimeter of 400 meters has been established, and the evacuation began at 9:00 AM, affecting 6,200 people, including the closure of two schools and the main train station. Authorities have set up emergency accommodation for evacuees. The defusing operation is scheduled to be completed in the afternoon. Discoveries of unexploded bombs are common in Germany, and their number has increased due to construction projects.
