Over 400 female personalities from around the world, including four Nobel laureates and former heads of state, have called on Tehran to immediately release Zahra Tabari, an Iranian activist sentenced to death. Zahra, at the age of 67, was tried in a controversial ten-minute trial conducted via videoconference, without a lawyer. Her conviction is based on displaying a banner with the message "Woman, Life, Freedom," inspired by the slogan popularized during the protests in 2022.

The letter, drafted by the association "Justice for the Victims of the 1988 Massacre in Iran," highlights the terror endured by women in Iran and calls on international governments to support their struggle for democracy and equality. Although Iranian authorities have not commented on the case, a group of UN experts has confirmed the conviction and called for a suspension of the execution, arguing that it would be arbitrary and contrary to international norms. The organization Iran Human Rights reported that, this year, Iran has executed over 40 women, highlighting the severity of the human rights situation in the country.
