A report from Kenyan intelligence shows that over 1,000 Kenyans have been recruited to fight in Ukraine, many of them without military experience.

According to a report from the intelligence services in Kenya, over 1,000 Kenyans have been recruited to fight in the Russo-Ukrainian war, a significantly higher figure than previous estimates of 200.

These men, often without military experience, arrived in Russia on tourist visas and were forced to sign contracts with the Russian army. Deputy Kimani Ichung'wah mentioned that many of them have been deployed to the front, and some have gone missing or been hospitalized.

Recruitments are facilitated by corrupt agents who collaborate with employees at airports and embassies. Promises of attractive salaries, between 920 and 2,400 euros per month, attract many Kenyans, given that the average salary in Kenya is much lower. The Kenyan government has condemned the use of its citizens as "cannon fodder" in this conflict.
