Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, stated that Ukraine has no chance of winning against the Russian invasion and criticized the ongoing financial support from the European Union, calling it "simply madness." In an interview, Orban claimed that this economic support "kills" the EU financially and accused European leaders of prolonging the conflict in hopes of more favorable negotiations. He suggested that Europeans should open a direct communication channel with Russia, allowing the Americans to negotiate separately.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also emphasized that, in the absence of a "miracle," Russia will continue to occupy territories in eastern Ukraine and downplayed the risks of Russia attacking other European or NATO countries, stating that they are much stronger. He also proposed a new security system for Europe that would include a stabilizing peace agreement for Ukraine.
