The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that he does not know who could have placed the explosives discovered in Serbia, near the border with Hungary, after Serbian intelligence services denied any connection to Ukraine. Orban made these statements at a press conference, mentioning that Serbian authorities are investigating the incident.

The discovery of two large packages of explosives, located near the 'Balkan Stream' pipeline, generated strong reactions in Hungary, in the context of the electoral campaign for the elections on April 12. The Hungarian government initially accused Ukraine of a 'terrorist attack', and Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that the actions of the Ukrainians aim to disrupt gas supplies from Russia. The Kremlin suggested that the investigation could indicate Ukraine's involvement, but the director of the Military Security Agency in Serbia dismissed these accusations, emphasizing that the explosives are of American manufacture.

Ukraine denied any connection to the incident, suggesting that it could be a false flag operation orchestrated by Russia to influence the elections in Hungary.
