The European Commission will launch an investigation into possible breaches of EU consumer protection rules by online trading platforms Temu and Shein. They are suspected of selling substandard or dangerous products, flooding the European market with billions of cheap products that do not comply with EU law. The commission is also concerned about the environmental impact of cheap imports, most of which are toxic and difficult to recycle.
