Russian drone hits apartment building in Odesa / At least 12 people injured

A Russian drone hit and damaged an apartment building in Odesa during an attack carried out overnight from Friday to Saturday. At least 12 people were injured and taken to hospital, according to Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration.

Emergency crews were deployed to the scene, where the building was engulfed in flames and debris was scattered across the street. The full extent of the damage was not immediately known. The Ukrainian Air Force warned that Shahed-type drones were still active in the region after the attack.

The incident occurred shortly after another attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia, which killed two people on the night of September 12. Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukrainian cities in recent days, while Kyiv is facing a critical shortage of air defense systems.

On September 11, Russian attacks in Ukraine killed at least nine people and injured another 145. A day earlier, an attack on a shopping center in Pavlohrad killed five people and injured at least 67. President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly called on allies to support the strengthening of Ukraine's air defenses.
