An investigation was launched after Marine One, the presidential helicopter carrying Donald Trump, was too close to a commercial airplane.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has announced an investigation following an incident in which Marine One, transporting President Donald Trump, came too close to a commercial airplane. The incident occurred on Tuesday, near Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that there was a temporary loss of safe distance between the two aircraft, but emphasized that the president was never in danger. Air traffic controllers maintained contact with both aircraft throughout the incident.

NTSB will continue to investigate the circumstances and will take corrective actions if necessary. Safety measures require a minimum distance of 2.4 km horizontally and 150 meters vertically between aircraft.

The incident occurred around 2:30 PM, when Marine One was heading to Andrews Air Force Base. The FAA has increased security measures in the area following a fatal accident in 2025.
