After the devastating fire in 2019, the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral has been rebuilt and will be honored with a commemorative two-euro coin, presented by the Paris Mint. The coin will feature the image of the cathedral's facade and will gradually be put into circulation, with a mintage of 20 million pieces.
This choice underscores the importance of the monument, which was reopened to the public in 2024, after years of restoration work. Marc Schwartz, the general director of the Monnaie de Paris, stated that the coin celebrates the efforts of the artisans involved in the restoration and is a way to honor the emotions felt by the French following the fire.
