Norway has announced that by the end of the year it will present a bill in parliament that will prohibit the use of social media platforms for young people under 16 years old. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre emphasized the importance of this measure, stating that he wants a childhood in which children can enjoy games and friendships, without being influenced by algorithms and screens.

This initiative comes against the backdrop of efforts by several European countries to limit children's access to social media, after Australia became the first country to implement such a ban. Although the Norwegian government has not specified which applications will be affected, the ban in Australia applies to popular platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Snapchat. Technology companies will be held accountable to verify users' ages to comply with the new legislation.
