The Norwegian Parliament is preparing to vote on Thursday on proposals to reduce taxes on gasoline and diesel, in response to rising fuel prices caused by the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, following the conflict in the Middle East.

The vote was called quickly after the opposition Conservative Party proposed measures, bypassing the usual budgetary process. The minority Labour government will also present proposals, aiming for broader support through a budget amendment. The Centre Party has announced that it will support any initiative to reduce taxes.
