North Korea announced on Wednesday that, on the previous day, it conducted tests for a new multifunctional missile launch system, as well as for a multiple tactical launcher intended for cruise missiles. The military exercises, initially reported by the South Korean army, were monitored by leader Kim Jong-un, according to information provided by the official news agency KCNA.

On Tuesday, the South Korean military announced that it detected the launch of several projectiles in the Yellow Sea, including a short-range ballistic missile from the North Korean city of Chongju. This marks North Korea's first missile launch in the last 37 days and the eighth this year. Analysts suggest that the North Korean regime could take advantage of the weakening of international norms, in the context of the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, to strengthen its status as a nuclear power. Kim Jong-un stated that the test demonstrated significant technological progress, emphasizing the importance of the army's destructive force.

Additionally, it is speculated that Chinese President Xi Jinping may visit North Korea this week, which could influence regional relations, considering that China is the main supporter of Pyongyang. Neither country has yet confirmed the visit.
