The official news agency of North Korea, KCNA, announced on Monday that the country conducted short-range ballistic missile tests, confirming information reported by Seoul. Five tactical ballistic missiles were launched towards a target area located approximately 136 km away, covering an area of 12.5 to 13 hectares. The tests, supervised by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, took place after a series of other recent ballistic missile and munitions tests. Kim emphasized the importance of developing fragmentation bomb warheads, which can enhance high-density attack capability and precision. These launches bring the number of ballistic missile tests conducted by North Korea this year to six, despite the bans imposed by the UN. South Korea reacted, urging Pyongyang to stop these "successive provocations" and seek peace.
