Japanese giant Nippon Steel has completed its $14.9 billion acquisition of U.S. Steel after 18 months of negotiations and national security agreements.

The deal includes a payment of $55 per share and a national security pact with the Trump administration that gives the government veto power over major company decisions. Nippon Steel pledges to invest more than $11 billion in US industrial infrastructure through 2028, including $1 billion for a new plant.
