Nippon Steel's $14.9 billion acquisition of U.S. Steel was finalized after difficult negotiations and political hurdles. The deal includes a payment of $55 per share and a national security pact with the Trump administration that gives the government veto power over major company decisions. Nippon Steel pledges to invest more than $11 billion in US industrial infrastructure through 2028, including $1 billion for a new plant. The deal was initially opposed by both presidential candidates but received official approval following a national security agreement.
