The nuclear power plant project, with a capacity of at least 1 gigawatt, will be one of the few new reactor builds in the US in decades, meeting the growing demand for electricity. Gov. Hochul emphasized the importance of nuclear power for generating steady, zero-emission electricity. The state of New York will participate in financing the project and is seeking partners for implementation, while details on cost and location remain unclear.
