The New Museum in New York, the only museum in Manhattan dedicated exclusively to contemporary art, reopens its doors on Saturday, after a two-year closure for expansion work that cost 82 million dollars. Located in the Bowery neighborhood, the museum has now doubled its space, adding a new building of wood and glass, designed by architects Shohei Shigematsu and Rem Koolhaas. The new wing, with an area of 5,500 square meters, includes exhibition spaces, an amphitheater, a rooftop terrace, and a restaurant. The reopening is marked by the exhibition 'New Humans: Memories of the Future,' which brings together over 200 participants from various fields and explores artistic visions of the future of humanity. The museum, without a permanent collection, has established itself as a space for emerging artists in the New York cultural landscape. Lisa Phillips, the museum's director, emphasizes the institution's commitment to innovation and collaboration.
