The invitation comes from Republican opponents of President Joe Biden amid a double setback for Israel this week. The decision to invite Netanyahu comes at a tense moment as Israel grapples with the recognition of Palestine by three European countries and the demand for arrest warrants against it. Netanyahu has not yet accepted the invitation and a date for his visit to Washington has not yet been set.
