Speaking at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly meeting in Dayton, Mark Rutte said that member states are expected to set a defense spending target of 5% of GDP at the June summit in The Hague. Rutte said that a considerable part of this spending, well above 3%, will be directed towards military defense, while the rest will cover related areas such as infrastructure and cyber security. The Dutch prime minister stressed the need to achieve these goals by 2032.
