On September 16, 2025, NATO inaugurated its first Liaison Office in the Middle East in Jordan, with the support of Romania and Ambassador George Maior.

George Maior, Romania's ambassador to Amman, played a key role in facilitating cooperation between NATO and Jordan. During a meeting, he discussed the Alliance's future actions in the region. The opening of this office underscores NATO's commitment to its partners in the Middle East and Jordan's strategic position. Romania will continue to play an important role in NATO cooperation in Jordan until 2026.
