Colonel Andre Wuestner, head of the German Armed Forces Association, said NATO leaders must be realistic about deploying peacekeepers to Ukraine. He stressed that to meet the challenges, each major country in the coalition of the willing would need to send at least 10,000 troops, which could overstretch current forces. Wuestner warned that a superficial approach could lead to an escalation of the conflict and stressed the urgent need to strengthen European military capabilities.
