An Iranian court has sentenced the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Narges Mohammadi, to six years in prison for "gathering and conspiracy to commit crimes."

She was also sentenced to an additional one and a half years in prison for "propaganda activities" and to two years of exile in the city of Khosf, while the authorities were prohibited from leaving Iran for two years. Her lawyer mentioned that, according to Iranian law, prison sentences are not cumulative, which means she will serve only one sentence. Mohammadi was arrested in December and was banned from leaving the country for two years.
