Notes written by hand by Benito Mussolini, the former Italian fascist dictator, related to a meeting with Adolf Hitler on April 22, 1944, at Klessheim Castle near Salzburg, have been discovered. The documents, considered to be of exceptional historical importance, were put up for sale at an auction in Turin. Experts from the special unit of the Carabinieri for the protection of cultural heritage have confirmed the authenticity of the notes, which contain information about the armed forces, politics, the economy, and labor.

They disappeared in the final chaos of World War II, and expertise has shown that the handwriting is attributed to Mussolini. The documents were confiscated and handed over to the Central State Archives.
