The organization 'Doctors Without Borders' (MSF) has accused Israel of deliberately restricting access to food and humanitarian aid in Gaza, creating an 'artificial malnutrition crisis' with devastating effects on maternal and child health.
MSF conducted a study in four hospitals in Gaza, which shows increased mortality rates among children born to malnourished mothers. The organization emphasizes that insecurity and the Israeli blockade have led to severe restrictions on humanitarian aid, severely affecting the health of pregnant women and newborns. According to the analyzed data, over 50% of the mothers studied suffered from malnutrition during pregnancy, and 90% of their newborns were premature. MSF calls on Israel to allow unrestricted access to humanitarian aid in Gaza, highlighting the extreme fragility of the situation in the region, despite the ceasefire in October 2023.
