Coach Jose Mourinho stated that the Argentine Gianluca Prestianni will not have a future at Benfica Lisbon if he is found guilty of the racial insult allegations made against Vinicius Jr. during a Champions League playoff match.
Prestianni, at the age of 20, was accused by Vinicius of using racist language in the first leg of the playoff, held on February 17. Although he denied the allegations, he received a provisional one-match suspension from UEFA. Mourinho emphasized that if Prestianni is guilty, his career at Benfica will end under his leadership. The coach has also been criticized for his previous comments about Vinicius, but he reaffirmed that he is against any form of discrimination. Prestianni rejected the allegations, claiming that Vinicius misinterpreted what he heard.
