Montenegro has made significant progress in the process of joining the European Union, provisionally closing five new negotiation chapters. This was announced by the Danish Minister for European Affairs, Marie Bjerre, who emphasized the importance of this step. The five closed chapters relate to the right of establishment, the free movement of capital, the rights of commercial companies, agriculture and rural development, and fisheries. In total, Montenegro has closed 12 out of the 33 chapters required for accession. Prime Minister Milojko Spajić expressed his optimism for continuing negotiations in the coming year, highlighting inter-institutional cooperation. The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated that Montenegro is the best-positioned candidate for EU integration, with the possibility of completing negotiations by 2026, provided that constant progress in reforms is maintained.
