Hurricane Beryl caused severe thunderstorms, flooding and knocked out power across much of Texas. About 2 million homes and businesses lost power and extremely high temperatures created dangerous conditions, especially without air conditioning. The heat wave also affected the western US and Canada, increasing the risk of wildfires.
