Joel Kaplan, Meta's head of global affairs, has criticized the European Union's new artificial intelligence code of best practice, saying it introduces legal uncertainties and excessive measures. Although the code is voluntary, it is a step towards the AI Act regulations passed by the European Parliament. Other big companies such as ASML and Airbus have joined the protest, calling for its implementation to be delayed. Meta's refusal highlights the tensions between strict EU regulations and the more flexible US model.
