On Sunday, Tel Aviv was the scene of massive protests, with over 400,000 people taking part, calling on the government to negotiate the release of 50 hostages in Gaza. The actions began following the Hamas attack on October 7 and included road blockades and business closures. Organizers estimated that in total more than a million people took part in demonstrations across the country. The families of the hostages, along with the October Council, declared an "emergency halt" until all captives were released, while government officials criticized the protests, accusing demonstrators of supporting Hamas.
