The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced on Wednesday a serious incident that occurred 15 nautical miles northeast of Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz.

The captain of a container ship reported that he was approached by a warship of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, which opened fire on the commercial vessel, after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire. The attack caused significant damage to the bridge of the container ship, but no fires or environmental impact were reported. All crew members were declared safe and unharmed, which avoided a potential human tragedy.

The incident raises questions about the security of navigation in the region, given the existing geopolitical tensions. Maritime authorities continue to monitor the situation to prevent further similar attacks.
